Our small farm, Mountain Ash Farm, is located in Northern Maine between Presque Isle and Fort Fairfield. We are proud to be from Aroostook County, better know in Maine as, “the County”. We have seven adult females and a one year old female. We have one wonderful herdsire, a Jr. herdsire, and a number of fiber males. The fiber males are an excellent way to start if you want to produce fiber for spinning. They sell for around $500.00 each.
So far this fall we have added a beautiful female cria to the herd. She is the image of her older sister, Carmen, who is now one year old. In the next few weeks we should be adding a couple more cria to our herd, and are anxiously watching for them.
I love to breed for color, as you can tell form my two herdsires and new purchases. I love to work with natural hues. Browns, reds, grays and heathery colors are a spinners dream for me. Personally I would always rather work with natural colors than died fibers.
